Our heritage
Built through unity and responsible unionism
Key milestones drawn from the association history supplied by the National Secretariat.
CANMPSSAN was created during the national restructuring of trade unions and has represented senior staff in Nigeria’s chemical and non-metallic products sector since 1978.
The association grew from seven registered and functional senior staff associations. Its founding leaders established a national constitution, permanent secretariat and a tradition of professional representation.

The association is formed
CANMPSSAN received its national certificate of registration on 15 August 1978 following the restructuring of industrial unions.

A national constitution
The founding committee prepared the association’s constitution, which was approved in November 1978.

1991
Permanent national secretariat
The first phase of the National Secretariat complex at Ijako, Sango Ota was commissioned on 4 May 1991.

2002
Secretariat expansion completed
The second phase was completed and commissioned on 4 April 2002, strengthening the association’s administrative base.
